  1. Sacrewell Farm, near Wansford, is celebrating summer in style with a host of activities to brighten your visit between 19 July and 4 September.

With the school holidays here, look no further than Sacrewell to provide a fantastic day out for all the family.

A number of special events are being held at the farm throughout the summer with pet day and volunteer day taking place on 10 August, a pirate themed teddy bears adventure day on 24 August and, as summer turns to autumn, we host our harvest festival on the weekend of 13-14 September.

Our famous attractions are on offer every day.  Have a go at picking the winner in our daily lamb national races, try your hand at pond dipping and see what interesting creatures you can find lurking there or enjoy the chance to learn some pony grooming skills.

On pet day our rangers will be on hand to offer advice on looking after small pets such as rabbits and Guinea pigs and the opportunity to learn more about your furry friends.

Anyone interested in joining Sacrewell’s growing team of volunteers is also encouraged to visit the Farm on 10 August to discover more about the vital role they play and how to get involved.

Sacrewell then takes to the high seas for a teddy bears adventure day on 24 August promising lots of thrills with activities including bungee jumping and raft rides.

And if the traditional British summer rain arrives during your stay then our new play barn is just the place to go providing plenty of fun.

Celebrating our 50th year as a registered charity, 2014 is proving to be an exciting year at Sacrewell with the project to restore our 18th century water mill taking shape.

The farm is open every day from 9.30am – 5pm. For more information about events please visit or call 01780 782254

  2. In the Night Garden – Ninky Nonk Show

I had the pleasure of going to In the Night Garden Live at Canon Park, Birmingham.  We were all very excited (adults included).  It is a purpose built dome and looks pretty impressive, inside and out.  It is created with emphasis on family friendly, it’s literally a stone’s throw away from the climbing frames, swings and slides, so great for before or after.   On a nice day would be ideal to take a picnic.  They have thought of everything to make it an easy experience for parents and young children, lots of baby and toddler facilities, baby change, buggy space etc

The seating is just 13 rows, so you could sit absolutely anywhere and have a great view.  Not having set seats was ideal, they didn’t feel restricted and they had freedom to move around if they wanted to.  One of the little girls in our group was a little scared at first, so moved to the back, still with an absolutely great view.  It wasn’t long before she ventured closer and was clapping and dancing with the rest of us!

It was truly magical, so cleverly done, bringing these much loved characters to life right before our eyes.  After the show we had booked a meet and greet.  You could choose between Iggle Piggle or Upsy Daisy.  We chose Iggle and the kids loved meeting him, lots of kisses and cuddles.  We also had a photo taken that we bought after the show as a souvenir.  It was all very well organised too. Parents were called up when it was their turn, avoiding unnecessary queues, and the children had lots to do in the foyer before they were called up.  There was a TV playing in the night garden and lots of colouring facilities.   Staff were very friendly and I can't emphasise enough how organised it all was.

Overall it was an amazing, magical and memorable time and the best thing was Iggle Piggle found his blanket, yey!  I would love to go to the show again with my little girl next year and hopefully she can meet Upsy Daisy next time. We also chose the Ninky Nonk Show, so we will go for the Pinky Ponk.  The show is on in Birmingham until July 26th and then on to Manchester in August.  Well worth it and would highly recommend.
